It has often been said that Conures ought to be sold with earplugs for everyone around them, neighbours included! Some Conures deserve this reputation for noisiness - those vociferous sorts may be more closely related to Macaws - but not all Conures can take credit (or blame) for a noisy nature.
Conure is the name given to certain genera of Parrakeets from South and Central America. Members of the Aratinga, Pyrrhura and Cyanoliseus genera are invariably known as Conures, whereas the two species of the genus Enicognathus can be known as either, for example, Slender-billed Conure or Slender-billed Parrakeet.
Aratinga Conures originate from Mexico, Central America and from all the tropical
regions of South America. The size range of the species is between 9 inches
and 14 inches. This genus includes:-
Sun, Jendaya, Queen of Bavaria's (Golden), Mitred, and Red Masked. The Sun Conure
is considered the most beautiful.

Enicognathus Conures contains two species: The Slender-billed Conure and the Austral Conure. They originate from South America and Chile. The length is between 12 inches to 16 inches.
Conures commonly kept as pets include:- The Red-bellied, golden-crowned, green-cheeked, Jendaya, Lesser Patagonian, Nanday , Dusky, red-fronted, white-eyed , maroon-belly, black-cap and the Wagler.
They can be very affectionate, playful and intelligent. Moderate talking ability. Wonderful parrots if noise is not a problem!
