Baby - Sun Conure

This remarkable little bird is what started my life with parrots. She was the first parrot I ever owned and taught me well about them.
She tried to pass the first egg she ever laid Wednesday morning around 6 am. I found her at 7 when I go to let them all out and saw it hanging out of her about 3/4 of the way and her cloaca was prolapsed. We rushed her to KSTATE university and they surgically removed it. She made it throught the operation fine. They had given her an injection to stop other eggs.
On Thursday she was swelling up, and they did ultra sound to find another egg still soft shelled. Her vent area had 2 stitches in it to hold her cloaca in place so she could not pass it anyway. They rushed her to surgery to remove it from her reproductive tract. She was under anesthesia and they were preparing her for surgery when she went into cardiac arrest.
I had spent all afternoon holding her and telling her how much I loved her and rubbing her head. So I had 2 hours there with her before surgery. She was a little fighter to the end.
I brought her home so the other birds could say goodbye to her and prepared her for burial in a steel vault. She will be buried on the grounds today.
It is amazing that those of us that have been blessed to get to live with parrots get to see the beauty of these magnificent creatures.
Baby was one in a million.
Always show your birds love and kindness during their stay with you.
They love you unconditionally, and you never know when your last day with
them will be.
