The day the lamp came down!

Our two Pionus, Bobby and Oscar love to wreck things, nothing in particular...just anything! This day was no different to any other.
Long before we ever thought about owning parrots we had a beautfiul home, our lounge was neat, colour co-ordinated and comfortable. We had a lovely large floor lamp with a wooden stand and a wonderful frilled lampshade. You may notice we use the word 'had'!
As usual Bobby and Oscar were playing, climbing all over their parrot gym, then onto the curtains, playing hide and seek. They were having a great time. Then, almost as if they were conspiring with one another, they went quiet. We sat and watched, wondering what they were planning, then without further hesitation they both flew across to the lamp. Both of them delighted in climbing around the circular shade, having fun swinging from the frills that hung beneath.
We observed them carefully, we knew they were not in any danger, but we were worried for the lamp! As we watched, the lamp swayed backwards and forwards without falling to the floor. Almost as if they were disappointed that the lamp remained standing, Bobby and Oscar flew back onto their gym. We sighed with relief.
Just then the telephone rang, we both chatted on the phone for a while then Bobby and Oscar came swooping on the lamp once more, again climbing and swinging, the lamp started swaying..then bang!! The lamp came crashing to the floor. We turned to see what had happended and Bobby and Oscar was back on the gym innocently eating their food. They began to chuckle as we approached..."What have you two done now?" we said....they chuckled more! We looked to the floor and there, in several broken and bent pieces was our beautiful floor lamp!
As we picked up the lamp and cleaned up, they stood and watched like butter wouldn't melt in their mouths! We decided not to bother replacing the lamp, fearing a second lamp would face the same fate. This has not stopped Bobby and Oscar from their acts of destruction....they are currently working on our drapes!!
Bobby and Oscar are owners of Cheryl and Mark
