Angel Brolly

Hi, my name is Brolly and I am an angel cockatoo. I left mom and dad in May 2002. I didn't understand why I left but let me tell you about me.
Mom finished hand rearing me when I was four weeks old
phew that was
15 years ago! We used to have lots of fun. I used to tease the three dogs
lol. I would dance and sing, whistle and bark until mom and dad's heads would
ache
they didn't mind though' because they loved me.
In May this year I began to feel poorly. I hid it from mom
. she is a
worrier. We cockatoos are renowned for hiding illness, so I didn't let anyone
see me sick.
Dad thought I was feeding his hand, as I loved to do. I pretended I had babies J Then came the day when I couldn't hide it. I was unable to keep any food or drink down. Mom fed me like I was a baby again and I tried to keep it down really. We made three trips each day to the vet for six days.
Mom and dad took turns at night staying up with me for a whole week. On the last day at the vet's, I attempted to eat some of dad's cereal. I saw a big smile on mom's face. I was trying to please her you see because I loved her so much. We came back from the vet and I felt poorly. Mom decided to keep me on her lap with her arms around me. I could see her wet face, but couldn't understand why?
I know now why her face was wet. I left her and came to heaven. I saw myself in her arms . I felt sad because I could do nothing to placate her. I loved my mom and dad so much and they knew it. Now I look over them all the time.
Since
I left, another three parrots have come into my home. There is another Umbrella
cockatoo, an African Grey and a sweet little Meyers Parrot. I know that they
can't replace me. Mom often cries when she thinks of me. Even while I am writing
this letter to you, mom's face is wet. She has planted yellow roses on my
grave. I will never forget my human parents, and I am happy to see them busy
with three new babies.
