Saturday 25 September 04 , found a grey cockatiel in Poole. It was sitting on my roof and then it flew down and sat on my shoulder. It is very sweet and very friendly and I am looking after it as best I can. It is safely in a cage with water and some suitable food. Contact Admin for further details.

Found a cockatiel in Wombwell in Barnsley (South Yorkshire) on Sunday 5th Sept 04. It is extremely tame and likes to sit on shoulders. It is now at Artis Pet Sanctuary in Balby, Doncaster (South Yorkshire), Tel: 01302 857104.

I hope it can be reunited with it's owner. Thankyou, Sarah.

We in the village of Thorpe Waterville, Nr. Kettering have sighted a small parrot, red breast, bright green and blue body and wings. Believed to be a Splendid parrakeet. The bird has distinctive whistling calls and flits from garden to garden. It seems to be okay and is not starved has it has been feeding from the bird tables in peoples gardens.

The R.S.P.C.A have shown no interest, therefore if someone has lost this bird, I am sure they will be happy to find it again. We are concerned that with the present rains and winter months approaching, let alone wild birds of prey etc the parrot might deteriorate and die if not helped.

Stolen Parrot Appeal

The owners of a £1,000 parrot are issuing a fresh appeal for his safe return after he was snatched by burglars.

George, a five year old Hawk Head Parrot, is still missing following the burglary at a shop near Lichfield, Staffordshire. A large cash reward has been put up for the safe return of the bird, who belongs to staff at the Animal Kingdon pet shop at Foster Garden Centre, Shenstone.

Burglars used a metal pole to break down the door of the shop at 11.00pm on August 25th 03. They tried to steal George's cage, but it fell to pieces during the raid. But, they grabbed the parrot, who is burgandy, blue and green in colour. (See Picture of a Hawk Head Parrot as an example)

He struggled to get away from them, shedding his tail feathers, which are being tested for DNA evidence in a bid to lead police to the offenders.

Anyone who knows of George's whereabouts or who has seen anything suspicious is urged to call Animal Kingdom on 01543 481451 or Lichfield police on 01543 414646.

STOLEN

I supplied a blue and gold macaw ring number 3 DGL 02W and an African grey ring number 04 BP 02V .

They were stolen from Dolittles pet shop in Wolverhampton on the morning about 01.20 hrs of the 24 /08/02.

A sledge hammer was used to open the rear doors and smash open the show case were the macaw was housed. It took seven strikes to break the glass. The garden centre over the road was also broken into the previous month stealing parrots.
